Payment Declined? Here's What to Do
Quick Summary
- If your payment is declined, you'll see a notification at the top of our website and we'll also notify you by email.
- A "declined" status means the payment did not go through, even if you see a temporary hold on your bank account (authorization holds are usually released automatically).
- Accepted payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB.
Why Was My Payment Declined?
Common reasons:
- Your bank/card issuer blocked the transaction - Many banks flag online or out-of-state transactions as suspicious.
- Card restrictions - Your card may not allow online, international, or recurring transactions.
- Card type not accepted - We currently accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB only.
- System or payment gateway issue - Temporary technical issues on our end.
- Billing address mismatch - Your billing address must match the records at your bank.
How to Resolve It
Step 1: Contact Your Bank
Call your bank or card issuer and ask them to:
- Authorize online/international transactions for your card
- Lift any restrictions on the card
- Confirm your billing address matches the one entered at checkout
Step 2: Try a Different Card
If your bank confirms there are no restrictions, try a different Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or JCB card.
Step 3: Try Again
Once restrictions are lifted, place your order again. You'll receive an email confirmation immediately upon success. Avoid repeatedly resubmitting a failed payment in a short period - double-check your card details, billing address, and bank restrictions first.
About the Charge on Your Statement
The merchant or payment processing name on your card statement may differ from "EightVape" and can vary between transactions. This is a normal part of payment processing.
International or cross-border payment processing may apply, and your bank may charge a 1%–3% international transaction or processing fee. This fee is set by your bank and is not charged by EightVape.
3D Secure
Some transactions may trigger 3D Secure verification, where your bank asks you to confirm the payment. Complete the verification prompt to proceed.
About Temporary Holds
You may see a temporary authorization hold on your bank account even though the payment was declined. This is normal - the hold is typically released by your bank within 5–7 business days, depending on your bank's policy.
Refunds & Partial Refunds
Refunds are issued to your original payment method and typically appear within 1–5 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.
If you received only a partial refund, it may have been caused by a system issue. Reply to your ticket with your order number and we'll investigate and process the remaining balance if needed.
